Lincoln Park offers residents and award winning school, great city services and plenty of things to see and do throughout the year. A beautiful and vibrant community in the Greater Detroit region, it, like many other bedroom communities in the region, started as a place for those working in the nearby steel and auto facilities in the early 1920’s.
While the city of Lincoln Park may not have been incorporated until the 1900’s as a city, it had long been inhabited first by the Potawatomies, in 1669 by Adrien Joliett from Quebec and later in 1776, by a Frenchman who received over 4,000 acres from the Potawatomies who was named Pierre St. Cosme. After Pierre died, the land was sold to other farmers in the area and many others over the years until finally, it was incorporated in 1921 and became a city in 1925.
Today, this thriving small city is home to close to 40,000 residents and stays proud in its roots while continuously moving forward. Like many small communities located throughout the Metro Detroit area, residents of Lincoln Park enjoy getting out and exploring the history and culture unique to the area. From farmers markets to the historic museum as well as area celebrations and events relating to the regions proud history, Lincoln Park prides itself on all it has to offer residents.
